pH Tape, Test Strips, and Liquid Indicators
Used to get a quick pH reading for Reams RBTI testing. Together with the other RBTI tests, it helps determine adequacy of feed rations. The test methods in this section all require color interpretation to get a pH reading, therefore are only suited to light colored samples such as urine or saliva. Darker liquids such as leaf sap, or soil extract would not make interpretation very difficult and inaccurate.
Please note: pH tape or strips are a convenient, portable way to read pH, but they are less accurate than other methods of testing. For better accuracy, use a pH meter. The pH indicating liquids such as Bromthymol Blue, Phenol Red, Chlorphenol Red, and Bromcresol Green are more accurate than pH tape or strips. These solutions change color to indicate the pH reading and can be cross-checked against each other increasing their accuracy.
